A pair of worn socks, pieced from grey-blue fabric squares like a pixelated image, rests on a block-printed grid of mustard dots. Small embroidered maroon bugs, stand-ins for ourselves, creep across the surface. Ground traces the footprint of everyday clothing, showing how our appetite for more slowly wears the earth beneath us thin.

This artwork is part of Second Appetite, a series of four textile works in which clothing, often called a second skin, becomes a surface being eaten away, as fast fashion's hunger for novelty devours the planet's water, soil and labour.
